Volunteer Information

Chico Softball Little League is a community-run organization powered entirely by volunteers. From coaches on the field to parents helping in the snack shack, every role plays a critical part in creating a fun, safe, and successful season for our players.

Without volunteers, our league cannot operate.

Volunteer Opt-Out Fee

Families who are unable or prefer not to volunteer may choose to pay a $30 volunteer opt-out fee.
These funds are used to hire additional support to ensure league operations continue smoothly.

Volunteer Roles

Below are the key volunteer roles that support our league. Whether you have a few hours to spare or can dedicate an entire season, there is a place for everyone!

Team Manager

Leads and organizes the team. Responsibilities include running practices, coaching games, communicating with families, and ensuring players have a positive experience. Must complete volunteer screening and required Little League training.

Assistant Coach

Supports the Team Manager during practices and games. Helps teach skills, manage players, and promote teamwork and sportsmanship.

Snack Shack Volunteer

Assists in running the snack bar during games. This is one of our most important and fun volunteer roles—100% of proceeds go back into the league.

Team Scorekeeper

Keeps official score and game records. Great for parents who like staying involved during games.

Field Crew

Helps prep fields before and after games. Duties include raking, dragging, chalking lines, and basic field maintenance.

Umpire

Ensures fair and safe gameplay by officiating games. Training provided—perfect for adults or responsible teens who love softball!

General Assistance

Supports special events such as:

• Opening Day

• Closing Ceremonies

• Team Picture Day

• League Fundraisers

Great options for families who cannot commit to a season-long role but still want to help.
